How Do I Check for Recalls On My Car?

As long as your Acura vehicle is properly registered, you will automatically receive a Acura recall notice from the manufacturer. You can also check for Acura recalls on your car by searching its VIN, or Vehicle Identification Number. This number is unique to your vehicle and can usually be found on the certification label in the driver’s door opening or on a plate on the driver’s side windshield, visible from the exterior of the vehicle.

Brookhaven and Dunwoody drivers of older Acura models should keep in mind that the VIN search is only available for Acura recalls issued within the last 15 years. To search for recalls on vehicles older than 15 years, contact the Acura Customer Relationship Center.

Why Does My Car Have a Recall?

Recalls on your car are issued when there is a defect in “performance, construction, a component, or material of a motor vehicle or motor vehicle equipment.” But what, exactly, constitutes a defect?
